Family Strong

Cathy’s life has been defined by love, resilience, and an unshakable commitment to her family…

A devoted mother to her four living children—Tommy, Barbara, Susan, and Ryan—she has faced unimaginable heartache, beginning with the loss of her son Anthony, who passed away at just 2.5 months old. Despite this profound tragedy, she stood as a pillar of strength for her family, guiding them through their grief with grace and compassion.

In March 2011, her world was rocked once again when her beloved husband, Tom, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. True to her loving nature, she remained by his side, day and night, offering him comfort and care during his final months. She never left him, staying with him in the hospital and bringing warmth and solace until his passing in May 2011. Her strength in the face of such profound loss inspired her children, who looked to her with deep admiration for her enduring courage.

However, in April 2024, Cathy was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer, a new challenge in her already remarkable life. Even in the face of this difficult diagnosis, her love for her family remains her driving force. Through chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and an upcoming surgery, she continues to fight with the same resilience and determination she has always shown. The thought of returning to the simple joys of watching her grandchildren grow gives her the strength to face each day with hope and courage.

As she battles this new chapter, her family stands by her side, just as she has always been there for them. Her unwavering love and resilience have been a guiding light, and her family is now united in their support for the woman who has always been their source of strength and inspiration. Together, they face the road ahead, determined to surround her with the same love she has given them her entire life.

In recent years, Cathy has found renewed joy in her role as a grandmother to five precious grandchildren: Kenneth (6), Mia (5), Makayla (1), Thomas (6 months), and Phillip (5 months). The time she spent caring for her grandchildren brought her immense happiness, filling her heart with cherished memories. Whether reading bedtime stories, baking cookies, or simply sharing moments of laughter, she found purpose and fulfillment in being there for her family in every possible way.
